Goldendoodles are not hypoallergenic dogs and they do often shed. This false claim is why AKC will never approve of them as a purebred dog. The grooming required to maintain a poodle type coat is needed frequently and is very expensive. If not cared for properly, the dog will need to be shaved down to the skin. Some have started to do clearances but , they do not have the generations of such behind their dogs or the research. Don't overpay for what AKC considers a mutt.

Many people call and say we just want a pet, do you know show breeders sell more to pet homes then show homes? This article below is great to read and understand why getting a puppy from a show bred litter gives you the best and healthiest puppy possible.
While DNA testing is not a code of the ethics with the Golden Retriever Club of America or the Golden Retriever Club of Greater St Louis, it is becoming more popular. Many people do not understand how to interpret it which can create a problem greater than those we are testing for currently. Breed diversity can also be affected drastically.
Unfortunately some backyard breeders and puppy mills are trying to utilize it. They lack the generations of clearances that are pertinent to the code of ethics behind their stock. DNA testing should never be put over the lack of hips, elbows, eyes and heart clearances. More than five generations of solid clearances are important. Some DNA testing is being done in these circumstances to scam the buyer into falsely believing DNA testing is more important. These deceptive sellers rely on the buyer's lack of knowledge.
Here's a good link for a better understanding of how to use DNA.
The national Club recently made the decision to not add DNA testing at this time to our code of ethics. Many breeders do not DNA test currently but this should not hamper a decision to purchase a puppy as long as the puppy has all of the code of ethics clearances. Remember puppy prices go up with every additional test added to the requirements.
